Cameroonian soldiers who invaded Noni in Bui Division on Wednesday October 20, 2021, in search of dreaded ‘General’ No Pity of the Marine Forces, have been accused of desecrating the Din Noni Royal Palace by the locals.

A native of the area who spoke to MM based on anonymity said the actions of the soldiers’ can be likened to adding salt to an injury as prior to the incident, the Cameroon security forces had reportedly set ablaze several houses in the locality prompting the locals to flee to the bushes for safety.

“The fons of the area are in the bush as they were abducted by the separatist fighters,” the local stated, adding “The military entered the palace and destroyed some items.”

“I don’t know if they sent them to protect people or to loot and destroy,” he cried out.

In an amateur viral video footage shot in the ransacked palace, a local is heard complaining: “Look at the living quarters of the Fon… They deceive us that when they are coming we should not run or that we should run to the palace for safety. Look at the destruction at the palace. What would have happened if they met us or the fon there then?”

Like in past instances, the government has maintained sealed lips over its actions in the North West and South West Regions.

Pundits have highlighted the fact that the burning and ransacking of houses in the North West region resumed shortly after the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo paid a visit to the town of Bamenda, the North West capital, to announce a change of strategy in combating the separatist fighters following the deadly Sabga ambush launched by General No Pity which led to the death of 15 Cameroon security forces.

Pundits say judging from the recent happenings, there is no gainsaying that Beti Assomo didn’t give the soldiers instruction to set ablaze houses in a desperate attempt to get General No Pity.

It should be recalled that during the onset of the conflict, the Cameroon security forces relied so much on scotched earth policy in a desperate attempt to neutralize the separatist fighters prompting analyst to label the restive English speaking regions as GROUND ZERO as many residents have fled the region to Nigeria and the Francophone regions after their houses were razed down by fire.

After wide spread condemnation of their action, the Cameroon security forces relented.

Following the visit of the MINEF Boss, they have sudden revisited their inhumane scotched policy; which involves them burning down structures which they suspect is being used by the separatist fighters.

Meanwhile General No Pity who is the main target of the Cameroon security forces, still remains at large.

Our ears are still on the ground, we shall bring you more information as the story unfolds…
