After a long period of dormancy, Southern Cameroon Defense Forces (SOCADEF) of Matoh has resurfaced out of the blue with new recruits and a young gallant General believed to be the successor of General Andrew Ngoe who was killed in Matoh On January 24, 2019.

In the video making rounds on the social media, the SOCADEFIANS (made up of young lads) could be seen hyping up their new supreme commander; General Jason whom they described as a no nonsense General who is always combat ready.

The new breed of young vibrant SOCADEFIANS also flaunted their sophisticated weapons which comprises of AK7s loaded with double magazines, an RPG and a hundred round machine gun.

The reason why the group went under the radar for such a long time is unknown.

It should be recalled that SOCADEF is one of the pioneer Amba group that fired the first bullets towards the Egyptian army under the command of General Andrew Ngoe of Matoh and General Opopo of Munyenge.

However after General Andrew of Matoh was killed in 2019, SOCADEF went under the radar.

In June, 2021, news emerged that the generals and commanders of Fako have arrested the remaining SOCADEF General Opobo of Munyenge.

Spokesman of the Ambazonia restoration forces in ground zero and black tar council; General Gabonais revealed via an audio that SOCADEF General Opopo was arrested due numerous bad reports about the General.

In the audio, the spokesman asked the population what punishment should be given to General Opopo and many screamed kill him.

And a few days later i.e on June 30th,2021, gruesome images emerged on the social media which shows General Opopo lying in a pool of blood with visible signs of torture on his body.

After the death of Opopo, it was alleged that SOCADEF has been disbanded by its founder; Dr Ebenezer Akwanga.

However on the 18th of September, 2021, the group released a video footage introducing their new General and flaunted sophisticated weapons.

Its alleged that after the death of SOCADEF major General Ngoe Andrew of Matoh, Ebenezer Akwanga wanted to secure sophisticated weapons for the SOCADEFIANS so that they can be on a level ground with the Cameroon security forces hence he asked them to shut down operation temporally.

Pundits were right as the video making rounds on the social media depicts a new breed of SOCADEFIANS with deadly weapons.

As a reminder, the Southern Cameroons Defence Forces (commonly referred to as SOCADEF) was founded in early, 2017 by diehard Ambazonian activist Dr Ebenezer Akwanga who is based in the United States

The group was created to serve as the armed wing of the African People’s Liberation Movement (APLM), an Ambazonian separatist movement led by Ebenezer Akwanga.

The African People’s Liberation Movement (APLM), took part in forming the Southern Cameroons Liberation Council in March 2019, effectively uniting with the Interim Government under an umbrella organization.

However in March, 2020, SOCADEF boss Ebenezer Akwanga, was declared a BlackLeg and a threat to the revolution by the Ambazonia IG after he called for a two-week ceasefire in Ambazonia to give people time to get tested for coronavirus.

His group SOCADEF was also labelled a blackleg group.

However with a new breed of SOCADEFIANS most of which are young lads armed with sophisticated weapons, many Ambazonians are optimistic that the group might dominate the headlines with military casualties.

Our ears are still on the ground. We shall bring you more information as the story unfolds.
