A Popular young and vibrant Limbe based female commercial bike rider, whose name we got as Sheila Ndungafac, is dead.

Reports say Sheila Ndungafac suffered a brain injury from a bike accident on Sunday 8th of October, 2023 and was ferried to a hospital in Limbe for treatment but the hospital couldn’t handle her case hence she was later referred to a specialist in Buea; where she died on Tuesday.

The body of the young girl has been preserved at the mortuary pending burial.

It should be recalled that Shella became popular online a few months ago after blogs widely circulated images of her sitting on a bike with her helmet on and alleged that she was the only female bike rider in the city of Limbe.

It was strange for many to see a girl making a living from commercial bike riding that many consider as a job for the men only hence her images generated lots of comments as many people heaped praise on her for venturing into the male-dominated job.

But little did Shella know that death was just an arm length.

Following news of her death, some social media users have reprimanded commercial bike riders for not always putting on their helmets when driving.

Shella was one of the few commercial bike riders in Limbe who always wore her helmet but on that unfortunate day of her demise she decided to ply the road without her helmet and got involve in the accident that took her life.

Some social media users have also cautioned girls and women about doing risky jobs like commercial bike riding gainsaying that it should be left for men since it is hard, risky, and demanding for a woman.

However due to scarcity of white-collar jobs, young girls and women in Cameroon are compelled to venture into tough jobs like driving, bike riding, construction jobs, selling of fuel along the road, motor mechanics, car wash among others… in order to make earns meet.

Shella Ndongafac was among the few who were changing the narrative when her life ended prematurely.

May her soul rest in peace.
